Gymboree Play & Learn Classes
Our most popular classes! Encourage development through play and learning with our seven-level programme designed to support your child's growth at his or her own individual pace. Structured, play-based activities using our proprietary equipment are facilitated by a trained teacher. Problem-solving games, songs and storytelling stretch the body and mind.
Gymboree Play & Learn 10-6 months
In these early months, babies are learning to feel comfortable in the outside world. What is most important during this time is that babies feel loved, safe and secure. This healthy "attachment" helps babies become eager learners and develop self-esteem, self-confidence and the ability to form close, healthy relationships as they grow. In Level 1, we explore visual and auditory development of babies with sensory play (sights, sounds and textures), tummy time (giving babies a chance to see their own reflections and build upper body strength), first songs and more. These classes include a parent discussion time to learn about your child's development and expand your own support network as a parent.
Gymboree Play & Learn 26-10 months
Babies are learning that they can make things happen by using gestures, facial expressions and sounds. In this level children are learning about cause and effect, and the ways they can have an impact on the world around them through their actions. Activities are designed to support the emerging mobility by developing strength, balance, co-ordination and self-confidence through play with ramps, slides and climbers. We also encourage language development though song and dance. These classes include a parent discussion time to learn about your child's development and expand your own support network as a parent.
Gymboree Play & Learn 310-16 months
At this age, children are becoming very skilled communicators. They "talk" using complex facial expressions, sounds and actions, and let us know how they perceive the world around them through these gestures. Our Level 3 programme is designed to encourage this two-way communication and develop key motor skills through movement games, equipment exploration and early parallel play. Children build physical skills such as balance, coordination and spatial awareness, as well as social skills through group activities that encourage them to communicate creatively. Parents develop a greater understanding of how their child interacts and communicates with them and the world.
Gymboree Play & Learn 416-22 months
At this stage of development, active toddlers are using their skills to become effective problem-solvers. They begin to understand patterns and can plan a series of actions to reach a goal. Our Level 4 programme promotes not only physical development, but also language, thinking and social skills to help your child figure out how the world works and become a competent problem solver. Classes are designed to explore more complex concept development, and guide children towards competency in understanding contrasting ideas that support future critical thinking. Each class is built around a binary theme (such as "in and out" or "loud and quiet" ). This active level has plenty of equipment exploration time to support gross motor development. Songs and games reinforce class themes and language acquisition.
Gymboree Play & Learn 522-28 months
This imaginative age group is rapidly developing their creative thinking skills, by using words and symbols to express thoughts and ideas. Through pretend play, children make sense of new feelings and concepts — essential to their social, emotional and intellectual growth. Special props are used to support this creative concept development. Our Level 5 classes use our equipment, movement exercises and a wide range of other creative, play-based activities to support creative thinking, language development and social interaction.
Gymboree Play & Learn 628-36 months
At this stage of development, children express their ideas and feelings in quite complex ways. They are beginning to make logical connections between ideas and can now create and act-out stories that make sense. Our Level 6 classes are developed around imaginary play themes that encourage cooperation and communication. Children learn to logically connect ideas through creative use of our equipment, storytelling, movement to music and more.
School Skills3-5 years
One of the most important things you can give your child is a love of learning. Our school skill classes help your child make that important transition to academic learning by way of a creative bridge. Our programme instils classroom curiosity and a genuine love of learning, with an emphasis on developing key social skills that build a foundation for academic success. Children build self-confidence through art, science, math, language, movement and more. Early literacy skills are established through books, and school readiness activities explore and nurture key social and emotional skills. Activities require cooperation and self-awareness, and encourage communication with peers. These classes include both independent and group learning activities to promote the important personal and social skills needed for a successful transition into school. At many locations, School Skills classes are combined with Sports, Music and Art to create a fun-filled 2-3 hour drop-off preschool programme.
